A Not-So-Secret Confession

OK...I have a confession to make. I wish I were Martha Stewart.

I mean, seriously, look at this craft room.

OK. Maybe I don't want to have Martha Stewart's life, let's admit, she's had a few issues in the past. But I honestly wish I could buy an incredibly charming home and somehow make it even more charming. Or I wish I could come up with such darn cute craft ideas!

I guess for now, until I can perfect my creative abilities, I will just have to settle on copying her ideas. Sorry, Martha Stewart, but I am claiming your creative genius as my own!

My Husband is 25 Years Old....

Happy Birthday to this guy!
(He is doing his happy birthday dance!)
For his birthday Jake wanted to go fishing. It just so happens that June 5 (his birthday) is free fishing day in Wyoming every year. How perfect is that??? So Jake, his brother Chad, his Dad, and me went fishing. I was the only girl on the trip so I promised I wouldn't act too much like one. :) The picture below is of Jake's second catch of the day. He caught two and I even caught one!
Later that day Jake opened his presents. I had fun earlier that week making Jake his traditional "Happy Birthday" sign. He got a ice machine for snow cones, some snow cone flavors, a sudoku book, some golf tees, a BYU sticker to put on his hard hat at work, some socks, and a gift certificate to the movie theater. We actually used that gift certificate that night and saw the Prince of Persia. It was a pretty good movie with LOTS of actions and machete-fighting. So naturally, Jake LOVED it!

In my eagerness to make Jake's birthday the perfect day I forgot a birthday cake!!! So we put a few cookies on a plate, stuck some candles in them and used that as a makeshift birthday cake. I felt SO bad that I had forgotten that birthday essential.

Happy Birthday, Jake!!!

Wyoming

Well Jake and I have officially unpacked all of our clothes. We are living here in Green River, WY for the summer. Day one has been interesting. I applied for jobs (why am I such a scaredy cat?) I did some exploring around Green River and discovered the CUTEST shop....SO glad there is somewhere I can go to look at cute things. :) I also got myself a Sweetwater County Library card!!! Whoo-hoo! I have a feeling I am going to be a regular there. Unfortunately, they were not hiring. Jake has been at work all day, I can't wait for him to come home.

I am slightly depressed that all of my shows are coming to an end. Survivor ended last night (Go Sandra!) and The Apprentice has one more show left. Lost's season finale show will be on Sunday....Kind of bitter sweet. What am I going to watch this summer???

I already miss Utah.......

2 Year Anniversary!

Yesterday, May 9, was our two year anniversary! I can't believe that two years has gone by! We celebrated Saturday night by going out to Red Lobster (we spent too much there) and then shopping around at the mall. Jake bought me some lotion and exfoliating cream and Jake got some jeans. It was a quiet celebration but that's how we like it. Maybe someday we will go somewhere for our anniversary. :)

LOVE YOU, JAKE!!!

Home

I love spending days at home up in Lehi. Thanks mom for everything you do for Jake and I. You do a lot. Thanks Dad for making us laugh with your jokes. Thanks Scott for catching us up and filling us in on LOST secrets. Thanks Caroline for always keeping us laughing. (I especially am grateful that I have someone to talk "girl talk" with.) Thanks Margaret for being so sweet and allowing us to come and pick you up from school!

LOVE YOU!!!

Hiking the "Y"

Can I just say that I love not having any school or work responsibilities!!! Oh my gosh it is so much fun!! During these days off I have been focused on decorating and organizing our apartment. I have been dragging Jake around to dollar stores and other such places and he has not once complained. So when Jake proposed the idea of hiking the "Y" I decided it was his turn to do something fun. So yesterday morning we got up and drove to the trailhead of the "Y" mountain.
This is us at the trailhead. I was completely naive as to how hard the hike would be. I had looked up how long it was and saw that it was about a mile up and a mile down and the people who had written the article I was reading said it was an easy hike. Well it wasn't and those authors had probably climbed Mt. Everest after climbing the "Y" and could therefore say it was "easy". The hike consisted of STEEP switchbacks for over a mile up. I am such a whimp and had to stop at each turn and take a five minute breather. I seriously thought I was going to die!
There were some positive things things that came out of the hike, though. We saw some deer! They were down by the trailhead but Jake got so excited!!!

The view, when we finally got to the top, was amazing!!! We could see all of Provo and even found our Wymount apartment!

I have always wanted to climb the "Y" and then lay down backwards on it (Jake is doing this in the picture above). The view from that angle is awesome! It looks like the world is turned upside down and the mountains are floated in the sky! (*Warning: If you try this little maneuver just be aware that it is quite terrifying trying to lay down backwards on this very steep hill with nothing to hold on to.)

And just because every adventure needs a picture that represents our triumph!!! SO happy that I made it to the top! And SO happy that we are done with that hike! :)
