I don't mean to brag....but.....

my baby is the best sleeper! She has slept for 10 straight hours each night for the past 3 nights and today she took a three hour nap!!

Yeah, she's cute. :)

I sure hope this post doesn't jinx things..........

Lillie's Baby Blessing

This past Sunday, July 3, 2011, we blessed Lillie. So now it's official! Her name is Lillie Elizabeth Roundy. She looked absolutely beautiful and was a wonderful baby during the blessing. Here are a few pictures...they are so much better than my words. :)

It was a beautiful day and her blessing was perfect. Lillie wore the dress that I wore 23 years ago and was made by Great-Grandma Hawkley. Thank you to all of the family who came to support our beautiful Lillie!

Our little girl is finally here! The past three weeks have gone by so quickly! However, I thought it would be a good idea to write her birth story here on the blog so that I have it written down somewhere.

It all started at 1:30 am on the 13th of May. I woke up thinking my water had broken but when I got to the bathroom I discovered it wasn't my water, it was blood. I had started to hemorrhage. I immediately woke Jake up and then my parents. Jake and Dad gave me a blessing and then Jake rushed me to the hospital. We arrived at the hospital at 2:00 am. At this point the nurse checked me into a room and put the contraction and heart beat monitors on me. She didn't seem so concerned about my bleeding. After asking me some routine questions she finally proceeded to check me. I think it was at this point that she realized how scary the situation was. She kept leaving the room and bringing back various people to check me. After being checked a few times the head nurse said to the regular nurse, "OK. Why don't we take her to room 11C." In my head I was thinking, what is room 11c? Well it turns out that that room is the labor room right next to the operating room, just in case. I was rolled over to that room and the nurses began prepping me for a c-section. The doctor came in and informed me that a c-section was going to happen. At this point I didn't care because I was still bleeding really heavily and just wanted the baby to be OK and for me to stop bleeding.

For my entire life I have dreaded labor and getting an epidural. I have literally spent hours fretting over how I would be able to handle the pain. I do nto like pain. I can't even go to the dentist without saying a little prayer. However, I am so grateful for the blessing Jake and my Dad gave me because I felt no fear that morning. I felt slight apprehension but I did not lose my head in that operating room and I only cried when I finally heard Lillie crying. It was an absolute miracle! C-Sections are so weird and wonderful at the same time! I had a spinal tap - so weird not to feel the bottom half of my body! Even though I couldn't feel pain I could feel A LOT of pressure. They opened me up and had to pull her out and I could definitely feel the pressure and pulling. Lillie was born at 3:15 am and arrived healthy and without any complications!

I didn't find this out until later but the nurses and doctor had blood and IV fluids ready for transfusions for both Lillie and I should we need it. The nurse also told me that they were very worried about Lillie because she was losing blood through the umbilical chord. When she came out the doctor immediately took the umbilical chord and, from the top, squoze the blood from the chord back into her body. The nurse told us that she had never, in her entire career, seen a doctor do that. I am so grateful that I had a doctor who was alert and awake at 3:15am and could receive inspiration. Because of that swift move Lillie did not need a transfusion. I ended up not needing one either.

Overall, it was the most amazing day of my life! Jake and I could not be more grateful for our little Lillie! She is such a good baby. She is very mellow but has a flair for the dramatic. She is always held (I can't get enough of her!) and she loves to cuddle with her parents at night. All in all, we are healthy and we are happy! We love you, Lillie!

Happy Day

Yesterday was a happy day! Jake and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary! We can hardly believe it's been three years....where did the time go? Jake had to work but when he got home we went out to dinner (Texas Roadhouse) and then walked around Wal Mart and Target. After about an hour of that we were exhausted (mostly me) and came home. Man, we are such party animals!! :) Jake got some new shirts and I got to choose a new baby swing. It was a wonderful day! I am so grateful for my Jake and feel so incredibly blessed that he is my husband and soon to be Dad of our baby!

Speaking of baby......still not here. I have one week until my due date and I have a feeling that she is going to wait as long as possible. My contractions have slowed down and I haven't felt anything like labor. At the last doctor's appointment I was 2 cm and 80% effaced. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow so we'll see if anything has changed! My fingers are crossed!

Just Come Early, Baby!!!

This week I will be 38 weeks! Whoo-hoo! At the last doctor's appointment I was 1 1/2 centimeters dilated and 70% effaced. Let me tell you, that got me WAY too excited! I have another appointment on Wednesday so I definitely have my fingers crossed for bigger numbers! She is getting really, really heavy and I look like a penguin when I walk. I am getting good practice waking up several times a night....I had always heard pregnant women complain of not being able to sleep at night and I could not imagine why they had trouble. Now I can. :) Even though labor is kind of terrifying (Wait, I really have to push her out?) I am ready for it to happen just so that I can get it over with and have a cute little baby girl to hold! Jake and I can't wait to meet her! We love her so much already! So here's hoping for a semi-early baby!

Did ya miss me?

Hey everyone! I'm back! Remember my last update? Well things have changed since then. We are definitely having a GIRL! I am 35 weeks along and SO ready to have her already! However, I am loving the nesting instincts and preparing for her to come. Pregnancy has been good to me and I wouldn't trade it for the world! But there are a few things I am not going to miss like my feet suddenly cramping up in the middle of the night, or my muscles feeling like they are going to rip apart, and the numerous trips to the bathroom. But you know what? I don't even mind those things very much because I am so grateful to have this little baby growing inside of me. We are not living in Green Bay, Wisconsin. About a day or two after I made my last post the company called Jake and asked him if he would mind staying here in Utah and working for their Salt Lake City department. Uh.......YES! It was a no brainer. We didn't even have to think about it. So Jake is working in North Salt Lake and we are living in my parent's basement until the baby comes. It's been so wonderful to have my mom to ask questions and I cannot wait until she can help me with the baby when she comes! I love my family! Scott received his mission call a few months ago! He is going to the Bogota, Columbia mission. The most amazing part is that that is the exact mission my Dad served in when he went on his mission. Needless to say we were all in tears when he opened his call and read that aloud. I can't believe I have a brother going on a mission! He enters the MTC on May 25 which is exactly one week after my due date. We are praying hard that he gets to meet his first niece. Love you, Scott! I am so proud of you! I finished my student teaching!!!!!!!! If excuses are allowed, that is why I have not blogged in so long. Student teaching literally takes over your life and I am not exaggerating. It has been the craziest four months ever but I finally finished on April 8 and will graduate from BYU on April 21. Jake and I will walk just to make it "official". I spent the first seven weeks in a 5th grade classroom and loved it! The last six weeks were spent in a first grade classroom and, although the first graders were cute and I loved the students, I sure found myself being challenged! First grade is hard to teach! Mostly because it's all management of the class. But HALLELUJAH!!! I am finished! I have been home this week just sitting around waiting for baby to come. It's a weird transition thinking I never have school again and that I am finally beginning my mom job but I am liking it already!

Lightning Fast Update

I have been thinking a lot about this blog and have felt that I have neglected it far too long. So for those of you who care, here is a quick update of what has been happening in Jake and I's lives.

*We are EXPECTING A BABY!!! We found out back in September that we are expecting a little baby and I am currently sitting at 16 weeks. At our last ultrasound the technician "guessed" that it was a little girl but to save our receipts. I took that pretty much as a guarantee :) Jake and I have LOTS of girls names that we like. We are beyond excited and can't wait for May 12th to come!

*Jake was offered a job by Schneider National in Green Bay, Wisconsin and we have accepted! I know, you are calling us crazy right about now. Well, we are crazy. Not only are we moving halfway across the country but I will finish my student teaching in a school that is nothing like Nebo school district and I will have our baby there in Green Bay. Needless to say I feel like I am having to grow up WAY too fast. We are moving at the end of December and we are definitely preparing for the Wisconsin winters. BRRRRR.....

*I just finished my last practicum ever! I am SO happy about that! However, I am still having nightmares about the whole thing.

*Thanksgiving break has been amazing! Jake and I got here in Lehi on Tuesday night and have been "vacationing" here ever since. We have seen two movies (Tangled and Harry Potter-HIGHLY recommend both), did lots of black Friday shopping (spent way too much money), saw the Roundy's at nephew Kolter's birthday party (Happy 1st Birthday!!!), and did a TON of relaxing and lazying around. It has been perfect! and I don't want it to be over. If I throw a fit and cry will that extend the vacation?

Overall, a lot of things have been happening and I am sure that a lot of things will continue to happen. I will do a better job of keeping this blog up.
